When you think that Marvel can't do better any better... it proofs you wrong!
Have you watched Avengers Infinity War already? What to you think about it? We're going to have a chat about the movie in this post, what I loved and what I liked less, but I need to warn you... this post won't be spoiler-free. So if you haven't watched the movie yet and you don't want to spoil your vision, close it here for the moment and come back later to tell me your point of view of what it is going to be the biggest superhero movie of Summer 2018!

First things first: what is it about?
Basically, its about the main Marvel superheroes fighting together against one, big, bad enemy, Thanos. We met Thanos already in the previous Marvel movies, starting with the first Avengers movie (at the very end, when we find out who's the person Loki teamed with), and Guardian of the Galaxy after.

Thanos is an alien born on Saturn's moon Titan, and at the beginning of his story he is a pacifist. He later turns into a badass supervillain, and decides to eliminate half population of the Universe because it is overcrowded, and it might soon come to an end if nobody stops overpopulation. Unfortunately, even if his reasons are understandable, his way of fixing the problem are everything but right, and our superheroes will need to stop him gathering all of the six Infinity Gems, cause if Thanos gets them all he will become indestructible.

Before we start, lets recap very quickly: What are the Infinity Gems?
As The Collector tells us in Guardian of the Galaxy, they are “Six singularities, forged into concentrated ingots”. They basically are powerful stones conferring amazing abilities to their owner, such as teleportation, telepathy or time travel.

Did we see those gems already in the previous movies?
Yes, we did. We saw the Power Stone in Guardian of the Galaxy Vol 1, when it was in the hands of Ronan the Accuser, before our heroes gained it back and gave it to the Nova Corps. Thanos destroys the Nova Corps home planed and gets it, even if don't see that on screen.
We saw the Space Stone in Thor Ragnarok, in Loki's hands (and Thanos will get it from Loki himself, before killing him – sigh sob sob!!).
At the end of Thor the Dark World, the Asgardians gave the Reality Stone to the Collector, to keep it safe (and again, we see in Avengers Infinity War that Thanos takes that one as well).
The Time Stone is protected by Dr Strange, while the Mind Stone is embedded in Vision's forehead. The only Stone we nothing about, til Infinity War, is the Soul Stone, which is anyway discovered and hidden by Gamora, who wants to prevent Thanos to gather them all. As we know from the movie tough, she fails her attempt, and dies, killed by Thanos himself, as a payment to take the Stone.

And now, back to the movie.
If I have to be completely honest, at the beginning I was a bit doubtful. I mean, so many characters, so many story lines (converting into a single, major one, yes, but still), and only 2.30 h to give a proper meaning to all of it. I was scared they might have ruined it all, but no, they didn't.

The idea of dividing the plot into many story lines, and give a bunch of main characters each was brilliant. I didn't feel like some of them took over others, and even if some have less lines than others, I think that their space on the screen is equally divided (well, according to the plot needs of course).

So, in the movie Thanos is slowly getting all of the stones; he finds out that two stones are on planet Earth, and he goes there to take them. Dr Strange, Iron Man and Spiderman try to protect the Time Stone, while in Wakanda Black Panther and Captain America with his Avengers trie to detach the Mind Stone from Vision's forehead. In the Space, Thor teams up with the Guardian of the Galaxy, to get to forge a new weapon for Thor, a Stone Destroyer, and destroy the Gems once and for all.

If you watched the movie, you know that they all fail, and Thanos manages to get all of the six stones. He also manages to erase half of humanity, and in the last, terrible sequences of the film we see Spiderman, Dr Strange, Black Panther, Vision, Mantis, Drax, Groot, Bucky, Falcon, Scarlet Witch, Star Lord disappear in ashes.

Without forgetting that at the very beginning of the movie Thanos kills Heimdall and Loki, and later Gamora, in order to obtain the Soul Stone.

BUT. But. No worries at all. In the last scene of the movie, after the titles, we see that Fury and Maria Hill manage to send a message to somebody, before disappearing themselves. The person they contact is Captain Marvel, another badass Marvel Superhero, which haven't met yet, but will very soon. The heroes left on Earth, together with her help, will most probably manage to defeat Thanos and get all of the “dead” ones back to life.

I write “dead” in brackets because in reality, the Soul Stone doesn't kill people, but it gets souls into a sort of pocket dimensions where they are kept save. Our heroes then are not actually dead, only their bodies disappeared.

Also, lets not forget that when Dr Strange explore his mental palace, he evaluates all possible futures, and he finds out there is only one future where Thanos is defeated. And when Iron Man asks him why he gave the Time Stone to Thanos to save his life, Dr Strage reply “It was the Only way”.

Now, if you're geek like me you'll probably know that the movie is inspired mostly to a Graphic Novel published in 199, named The Infinity Gauntlet. Now, in this novel there is obviously a happy ending, and Thanos is defeated by the Avengers teams together with Nebula, who manages to take off her father gauntlet and wishes for Time to go back 24 hours. In this way, all of the dead heroes come back.

Now, the movie directors probably will only take inspiration from the Graphic Novel, and modify the ending as they please and need, but again, a happy ending will surely be there. Especially because... guys, Marvel has been bought by Disney. Can a Disney production not have its mandatory happy ending? (Just kidding here, but that might be a valid argument to take in consideration).

And you guys, what do you think of Infinity War? Did you read the Graphic Novel as well? Are you keen in meeting Captain Marvel? To be honest, I just can't wait for next year to come and see the other half of it!!
