Cinema Night Out – Coco

It is one of the animated movies candidated to the Oscar as best Animated Movie, and best Original Song. Well, I haven't watched all of the other candidates, but I really think Coco has amazing chances to win. I absolutely loved it, and spent almost half of the movie crying like a 5 year old baby. I am sure it will catch you as well, and if you haven't watched it yet, what are you waiting for, run to the cinema!

The main character of the movie is Miguel, a kid living in Mexico, in a family of shoe makers. His family has been shoe makers for generations, since his grand grand grandmother Imelda started making shoes, after she had to find a way to provide to her and her daughter. Imelda was married to a man, a musician; although one day he left to pursue his career, and never came back to his family. For this reason Imelda forbid music in the family, in all its forms: no music playing, listening to, or admiring to. And since then, all her family hated and forbid music.

Problem is, Miguel loves music, and he dreams of becoming a musician, like his hero, Ernesto de la Cruz, a musician who lived in the same town as his, and who was the best, well known, admired musician ever lived.

For los dias de los muertos the whole family is getting ready to celebrate all the members of their family who already passed away, but Miguel hears a musical competition is going to take place in the main square that night, and he wants to participate doesn't matter what...

Won't say anything more about the plot, to avoid any spoilers.
I will only add that not only the story has a nice plot, and a twist that will leave everybody open mouthed, but the animation in itself is just amazing. It is another collaboration between Disney and Pixar, so it couldn't be less than perfect. The landscapes and wallpapers are studied til the smallest detail, and the colours are just a joy for the eyes, bright and vivid.

As for the main song, Remember Me... it will move you to tears. Not only for the lyrics, but for the meaning it carries, and when you get to find it out, the reason why it was written.
As I said, run and watch Coco, you won't regret it, and you will immediately add it to the list of the best movies you've been watching in 2018.
