Movie Time - Wonder Woman

I've been waiting for this movie since forever. Ok, maybe not since forever, but surely I've been waiting to see Wonder Woman on the big screen since her apparition in Batman VS Superman. And finally, on the 2nd of June the movie was released. I went to watch it with my best friend, and we both, despite wanting to watch it badly, were a bit... prevented. At the end, it is a super heroes movie we are talking about, and there are tons available. Some of them are good, but some others... oh my, what a waste of money.

We also have to say that despite being a super heroes movie, Wonder Woman was rated very high, which was promising. I don't need to tell you that my friend and I came out from the screen almost shaking, super excited and willing to watch it all over again, do I?

Cause the truth is, Wonder Woman is a good movie. Directed by a woman, Patty Jenkins, is is set in the world of the DC Comics, to which Superman, Batman, Flash and many more belong too. It is the story of princess Diana (Gal Gadot), who grew up on the Amazon island of Themyscira. She's always been willing of learning the art of fighting, to protect humankind, which is Amazonian duty and responsibility. One day, pilot Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) lands on the Amazonian island (which is hidden to human people) , and tells Diana about the war is is fighting – he first World War, as the movie is set in 1918. Diana then decides to leave her island and going in Europe with Steve, to defeat Evil and save humankind (becoming Wonder Woman during the process).

So, what is it that makes this movie so special? It might be the great acting – Gal Gadot is a goddess walking on Earth, so beautiful that she fits the role of Diana just perfectly, but Pine did a very good job as well. It might be the magisterial direction, photography, or just the musics. It might be that is it set during the First World War, and paints perfectly the horror of the war. Sometimes it does it with “cruelty”, without fear of showing how terrible, scary, mean and devastating it is.

Obviously the love story has a space as well, but not as big. It fits perfectly in the story, and feels a bit like another step important for Diana to take in order to grow up and become Wonder Woman. She, who's always lived in the protected island of Themyscira, reading about humankind on books, and making up an idealized idea of people, in a few days learns that not all people are good. That sometimes they just want to be evil, they've been born like this and don't look for redemption. That love is a strong, powerful feeling, and that love itself, so good and beautiful, together with anger and despair is the source of her (and everybody?) power, the origin of determination, and what makes her strong enough to get up and fight til the end.

As I said, I loved it, and I'm looking forward the new Justice League movie too... even though I'm pretty sure it won't be as good as this fantastic Wonder Woman.
