Cinema Night – Black Panther

Black Panther is the most recent movie given to us from amazing
Marvel; I didn't know anything about the character to be honest, so I
was very curious when I went to the cinema. Having seen the trailer
of what it is meant to be the king of the Marvel movies, Avengers:
Infinity War, I think an introduction to this character was a bit
due, as Black Panther will feature in it (together with a
million other character, but we're talking about it in a minute).
So, what is Black Panther about?
It tells us the story of how, centuries ago, five African tribes came
in discovered vibranium, the most powerful metal on earth,
after the impact of an alien meteorite. A member of one of the five
tribes was affected by the metal and gained amazing superpowers,
becoming the first Black Panther. He united all the tribes together,
and created the state of Wakanda. Only one of the five tribes
didn't recognize the new king, and decided to live by themselves in
the mountains.
Thanks to vibranium the Wakandans were able to develop some great
technology, but also decided to stay isolated from the rest of the
world, worried about what could happen if the power of vibranium
falls into wrong hands. They hide to the rest of the world then, and
pretend to be a poor Country.
Nowadays, the current king of Wakanda, king T'Chaka, dies after an
attack, and his son T'Challa has to become the new king. He
attends his coronation ceremony, and becomes the new Black Panther.
T'Challa is a good man, kind and faithful to good values, and wants
to pursue the same policy as his father. The past though hides secret
that for too long have been uncovered, and very soon T'Challa will
need to face not only an enemy who wants to steal the vibranium and
sell it to the black market, but also he will need to face somebody
coming from the past.
Also, Nakia challenges him to stop hide in a corner and share the
vibranium technology with all the poor countries which might need it
to develop, but T'Challa wants to maintain the past traditions of his
ancestors, even if he starts to be not too sure about them.
The movie is very beautiful, I absolutely loved it. The characters
are maybe a bit stereotyped (T'Challa is the right and good guy,
Nakia is the love of his life, a stubborn yet brave woman, and so
on), but they all work well within the plot. Obviously the combat
scenes, the landscapes, the colours are just fantastic.
As I was saying at the beginning, Black Panther will feature in the
next Avengers movie, which is amazing... but its trailer just left me
a bit dubious; there will be soooo many characters in that movie,
will they all have the right space? Are we actually going to be able
to see them all in action, and not just making an appearance and
disappear in a corner? Well, we need to wait, and see what Marvel and
Disney came up with. Until then, take care and talk to you soon!
