Trying Out – Derma Roller

I am always curious about trying out new products and/or beauty
tools, but I have to admit that when I found out about this one I was
a bit sceptical. It called Derma Roller, and if you give a
first glimpse at it, it may look like an instrument of torture. It
basically looks like a barrel covered in micro needles, designed to
pierce mini holes in the skin. So why on Hearth would we do that to
ourselves?
In a nutshell, because it seems like doing magic on our skin.
Derma Roller therapy has been used since forever as a treatment to
stimulate skin to repair itself, and create a bigger amount of
collagen. This little tool has been used to cure severe cases of acne
for examples; the micro needles of the Derma Rollers were creating
little “wounds” in the skin, making it not only produce new
collagen, but also new cells and repair itself.
This same technique has been used to improve the appearance of
ageing, scars, sun damaged skin, wrinkles. People swear that it
works.
Now, I bought it something like two months ago, and was using it just
when I remembered; as you know better than I, this is not the right
procedure to follow when you want a treatment to work.
Then I watched a Youtube video by a girl who was using it basically
constantly – not every day, but at least three times a week – and
her skin had improved dramatically (she was using it to improve the
appearance of her acne scars).
The way I intend to use it is to improve the appearance of little
lines, as I am going towards my 30s now, and my skin is not as good
looking as it used to be 10 years ago (sigh!).
I started using it every second day, and after a month or so I
realised that my skin actually feels much smoother and plumed in the
morning. I will keep on using it for some more time, and see if I am
seeing signs of improvement from the lines point of view as well, as
for now there's none.
Now, some Derma Rollers might be very expensive – 250.00£! - but I
bought mine on eBay, where you ca find any kind of price range,
needle size, roll size (and there is where I bought mine, and paid it
5.00£).
I bought a 5mm needle size, as according to the reviews I read online
anything smaller that that was doing nothing on the skin (small
needles are very delicate, therefore they work better on younger
skins, or on those needing little/light treatment).
Also, you only need to use it at night, as after the treatment your
skin will be very red! After having used the Derma Roller remember to
properly was and sanitise it, and apply generous amount of face serum
on your skin.
Finally, never play with tools you can't use, so if you feel you
might hurt yourself using some kind of needles on your face, just
stay away from this treatment (which again, is designed for more
mature skins or problematic ones, and it is not working on everybody
in the same way).
Also, always talk with a specialist before starting any kind of
treatment on your skin, you might end up making things worse instead
of solving the problem.
Take care you all xoxo
